Teme Valley Gardening Club

This is the 21st year of the Club, which covers the whole of the upper Teme valley, from Knighton to Felindre and beyond, and all ages are welcome to come to our monthly meetings at Knucklas Community Centre on the second Monday of every month. Meetings start at 7.30pm, and usually end by 9.30pm.

We enjoy speakers on a wide variety of subjects, usually experts or enthusiasts in their particular field, and in 2008 these will range from owls to perennials of the daisy family, and from the National Gardens Scheme to Japanese tea gardens. Most of the speakers illustrate their talks with slides or PowerPoint presentations, or bring along material (or in the case of the owls, live exhibits!) for us to handle.  As a group we also occasionally organise trips to see other gardens both locally and further afield.

The group is a very friendly and welcoming place to meet new friends who share your love of gardens and gardening, and twice a year we share food and friendship at suppers where all the food is produced either by members or by our secretary, Avril Hoyle. We run monthly raffles to raise funds for our activities, and usually have plants or seeds for sale at very reasonable prices. We also produce a monthly newsletter full of local information and ideas on gardens and gardening.

Subscription is currently £6 a year; excellent value at 50p per meeting, but you can come along as a visitor for £2 to see if you like what we do.
