Llanfair Singers has been able to build upon the history of choral singing which has happened in Llanfair Waterdine, through the Church choir earlier in the last century; through the choirs of Freda Harroway and Mary Simmons, and on the general musicality that has always existed, not least in the Women's Institute.
Llanfair Singers has always sought to be inclusive and to accept anyone who enjoys singing and who can, with help, keep to a part. The motto of the singers is Friendship Through Music and we all try to uphold this.
Llanfair Singers is now 46 members strong. The maximum number is 52, which will enable large-scale works to be performed.
Llanfair Singers performs music chosen by its members and conductors. A wide variety of styles is performed, from religious to secular, from madrigal to spiritual and from ancient to modern, and many hundreds of pounds have been raised for local charities and for those in need further afield.

Llanfair Singers have recorded a CD. The
recording was made at Bleddfa Church just after Easter, where the
Singers were accompanied by Gavin Roberts, the organist of St
Marylebone Parish Church, London, on the recently installed Compton
organ. The Singers, under their conductor, Graham Trew, recorded
Faure’s Requiem
and other works, including pieces by John Rutter, Howard Goodall and
Sir Arthur Sullivan, as well as arrangements by Percy Grainger, Sir
Walford Davies and Richard Lewis.
Solos and duets were sung by Gwen Davies, Margaret Davis, Jean Gardner,
Diana Hadley, Helen Henchoz, Val Owens, Jennifer Perry and Becky
Whitton, sopranos; Chris Dodds, Doreen Hart, Carwen Maggs and Joan
Payne, altos; Anthony Dodds, Joe Holden, Richard Lewis and Robert
Taylor, tenors and Peter Clements, Martyn Davies, Rick Harrowing,
Llewelyn Morgan and Graham Trew, basses. The CD will be on sale later
in the year.
