| Saturday February 20th | Up (U) | Everest Hall | 7.30pm |
The first animated film to open the Cannes Film Festival, Up is a delightful tale of a grumpy old man who attaches thousands of balloons to his house in an attempt to visit South America. Unfortunately, he has an unwanted passener, an eight year old boy who is in his porch when the house lifts off. This, to quote The Daily Telegraph, is a film which is "fantastically bouyant which offers laughter, sorrow and swooning to audiences young, old and all points in between."
| Saturday March 20th | An Education (12A) | Everest Hall | 7.30pm |
Described by The Times as "perhaps the best film of the year" and The Guardian as a "poignant, funny British drama" An Education is scripted by Nick Hornby from Lynn Barber's memoir of her 1960s teenage years. Carey Mulligan impresses as Jenny (the fictional Lynn) whilst Emma Thompson and Alfred Molina give strong performances. A film not to be missed.
