Dancing in a circle is an ancient tradition common to many cultures for marking special occasions, strengthening community and encouraging togetherness.
Modern Circle Dancing draws on rich and diverse traditional dances of many countries including The Balkans, Greece, Israel and France.
The aim is to experience the joy of dancing with others and to
create a
sense of well being and community.
Llanfair Waterdine Circle Dancing Group was formed by Mary Simmons from
Melin-y-Grogue in 1998.
At the present time there are 14 of us who meet on the 4th Monday of each month in Everest Hall at 7.00pm for 2 hours. Occasionally we have to change the date if the Monday happens to fall on a Bank Holiday.
In April 2008 we took part in a Dance Taster Day to celebrate International Women's Day. It was wonderful dancing in such a big circle with so many like minded friends and as a result have recruited some new members.
If you would like to come along to any of our sessions, please contact either:

At the end of November 2008 we sent out an invitation to a Workshop and were delighted to welcome many guests. Anna Dreda from Clungunford taught us many new dances from a new CD and instruction booklet. After three hours dancing (with the odd refreshment break) we all agreed that it had been great.
Our New Year's Resolution is to try to remember and to include some of the new dances at our monthly meetings!
